About this blog...
by Julia Grosvenor 6/2/2015
You thought this would be a page about the history and mission of Inglemoor's writing club! HAHA! Joke's on you! I don't know enough about that stuff for a page! But what I can do is talk about this blog.
This blog was kind of a personal goal for me. I mean, if I'm in writing club, I should find a way to write more, right? But I also noticed that this club actually has a lot to offer the school. We have a published fiction novelist on campus, but no creative writing class. That's kind of messed up. But in this club I have learned more about writing than I honestly have in any of my English classes. (High school classes, in general, tend to be essay practice rather than lessons when it comes to writing.) I even learned that you can start sentences with "but" when you practice creative freedom to develop your voice.
You can even start new paragraphs randomly to really show off your style.
Boom. Enjambment.
I kid, but I had so much fun and learned so much in club that I felt like it was worth sharing. So I put together a blog. Here are some things you will find here: (WARNING: contains blog spoilers)
- Inspiration
- Grammar lessons
- Helpful links
- Story recommendations
- Jokes
- Pieces written by members
I could go on for ages but trust me, this blog is worth reading no matter who you are, as long as you want to write. And maybe if you aren't already, this could inspire you to join our club at some point. (*cough* TUESDAYS IN THE LIBRARY *cough*)
My senior year is drawing to a close faster than I'd like to believe, so I wanted to make this page as a last fleeting attempt to spread this around. If you like it and know someone else who might, post the link to facebook or something. Tell people about it in person. Maybe even try snail mail! I know most of the members haven't even seen the blog before, because seriously I can't even keep up with my tumblr, so what the hell is blogspot? The blog may very well die after I graduate, but at the very least, it proves that somehow despite everything, all the busy schedules and shows to watch on Netflix, this club got me writing, and maybe it can get you writing too.
Plot twists and happy endings to all of you.
P.S. By the way about the photos on all of the blog posts NONE OF THEM ARE MINE. I know I should have sourced them but it's far too late now. It is impossible to edit these posts. You're not the blogmaster you can't prove otherwise. Sorry.
